Matisse- Blue Nude (1952)
Using paper cut-outs adhered to a mostly blank surface, Matisse worked with geometric shapes uniform in color and brightness to create this striking nude. According to him, color was given to us in order to express our own emotions, which is why these shades of blue emanate whatever the individual wants them to. This piece belongs to the Fauvism movement, which only lasted about 5 years.
